This website is run by me, Ed Muirhead. I love music and play the piano and other instruments.
Around the age of seven I started piano lessons. My teacher Mrs Whitefield inspired me greatly, she helped me learn how to enjoy making music. My mum and dad encouraged me the whole way, taking me to lessons and buying an old piano, which they brought to the house in a wheelbarrow!
I always enjoyed music, and spent a lot of time playing piano: as time went on, making up tunes and songs too...
In those early years I passed a couple of grading examinations (ABRSM 3 and 5) with Grade 5 Theory (distinction) and studied to Grade 7 level.
Over the years I've continued to play, with solo shows across the country (website), as part of several bands, and also regularly at church.
- 2009-now : Solo piano and voice - numerous live shows
- 2019-now : Accompanying several singers in various gigs and recordings
- 2015 : Keyboards with 5-piece prog-rock band
- 2014 : Piano with 7-piece jazz band
- 2013 : Organ with 8-piece funk band
- 2009-2012 : Keyboard with two 5-piece rock bands
- 2008-now : Drums for rock and blues bands
- 2002-2003 : Pianist for Forfar Musical Society
- 1990s-now : Piano/Organ at various churches
My strengths are sight-reading, improvising and playing by ear. Give me any page of music, I'll play it for you - or play any tune in any key and I'll join in!!
I have an MSc in music therapy, and full PVG scheme membership.
